Seems like PILCH Hartmut kinda wrote:

The statement that free software can't create any work is simply a
truckload of bulls**t. Even if free software didn't give birth to any
business directly related to it (which it did), it surely helps creating
work and economic benefit by cutting down starting fixed costs (not
every small software house can afford to pay 6-7 or so OS licenses, not
to mention other essential programs, such as compilers). I think you
should insist on this point as well.
What I find chilling in their essay is that they don't speak against the
free software with relation to the "patents are evil" argument, but
against the free software in itself. I guess there are just too many
people who can't conceive the existence of people willing to work not
(only) for money, but for fun, fame, ethics or whatnot, so they try to
convince others (or themselves?) that these people simply don't exist,
or that they're part of some kind of cabal against the Good Principles
of Capitalism.
It scares me.

Frankly, I don't think that you, or anyone else, could make patent
attorneys change their mind about this issue, not even in the slightest.
I mean, do you think they would want to turn down what would be such a
big business for them?
Try anyway, but don't expect much.
