Cher Bernard,

J'ai lu avec beaucoup d'interet votre dernier message sur notre
conference. Permettez-moi
de clarifier quelques points qui me semblent importants et d'informer
les membres de votre
liste de diffusion.

Much thanks for announcing the symposium about "Keytechnologies, Patents
and Products"
which takes place in Munich from 17-18.11.99.

There must have been a misunderstanding about some key issues. Let me
emphasize that the symposium is not organised by the European Patent
Office but by the Marie-Curie Fellowship Association, an association of
European scientists counting 1800 members. It is hence somehow difficult
to agree with the comment that the symposium is a "propaganda conference
organised by EPO".

Our interests for organising this symposium are manifold : we want to
offer a forum for scientists and engineers, first, to inform about their
work and to stimulate discussions about future technical developments,
and, second, to learn about the most recent developments in patent law
and to discuss the implications on their own work; the latter two points
appear to
be particularily important for young scientists. Note that we have
chosen to give a special
focus to the fields of information technology and biotech where we have
some of the most recent developments in patent law.

I would like to refer you to the website http://www.mariecurie.org where
you will find
the preliminary programme of the symposium within the next days. We are
in particular interested in presentations related to research,
applications and products in the fields of information technology and
biotech. If you are interested then please submit an abstract.

Je reste a votre disposition pour des plus amples informations.

Amicalement, N. Glaser
Membre du CA de la MCFA et co-chair du IPR Symposium
