Dear John Smith, Antonio Abrantes and Steve Probert,

Thank you very much for your helpful comments. They have helped me and the
FFII workgroup correct embarassing errors, and I also regret having
accused the EPO first of granting a patent that had not been granted and
then of intransparent rules.  That was bad style on my part. It is our job
to master those rules.  Criticizing them comes afterwards.  Thanks to your
help, we'll get the job done, and we are certainly committed to a fair
discussion.
