Subject: [Patents] interview

Regarding IP protection ... here is where we are headed, through
combination of patents, industrial clout and stupid laws enforcing
technological law making by private companies (see Lessig).

This is an excellent essay (actually a e-mail reply to Ron Rivest,
the R in RSA and himself a remarkable person) by John Gilmore.
founder of Cygnus and extremely competent in software technology.

It is terrifying. If you ever thought that Stallman "Road to Tycho"
was science fiction, here is science facts.
This not only threaten our right to know, and to own, by also the
right of our culture to remember, and our private lives, since at any
time, what we are viewing is monitored.

Stalin dreamt of it, but Disney is doing it ... with the support of
the DG Markt among others (INPI, DG Markt, UK PO, ...)

this last reference is no longer on the web ... unless you just
mistyped it.
