Hello.
I'm very short of time lately, so I apologize for sending this without
having properly read all I could about it. And I apologize if I don't
have much time until February for answering. It could all be my mistake,
but I read a message by CPT, the Consumer Project on Technology (USA),
about something called "Hague Convention on Foreign Judgments in Civil
and Commercial Matters", by June 2001. It
talks about a WIPO meeting in Geneva , on January 30-31.
It is long and I couldn't read it well enough, but from a quick browse it
sounds to me like something was cooking that could make people in one
country subject to laws of another country, in IP law in particular.
I was wondering whether this could mean that even if Europe rejects swpats
an European developer could be sued for infringement on a Japanese or
US software patent (without ever working, selling anything, etc. outside
Europe)?. I believe this is not so now, but could it
become possible after this summer?. Could someone better informed comment
on the possible outcome ?. Thanks a lot.
Here are the links I gathered from the message:
The original mailing list archive (it is a post on January the 14th)

The CPT comments to the USA government ?.
