We all know, since you've tired us all showing it, that you find it
reasonable
for yourself to keep on arguing. But I would really like any effort by you
to find new arguments or stop arguing. I can't see any new argument in
your posts since many many months ago (when I joined the list). I apologize
if I have some obscure problem just with your use of English. Your arguments
have been counter-argued by many, and you don't have to agree with your
opponents, nobody has to agree with your opponents, but once an argument
is presented, it is either rebated with *new* arguments or evidences, or
it is left alone. People in this list read what you say, read what others
say, and take our own conclusions or at least take it into account.
Saying the same more than once does not help, does not give it more weight,
does not make it more true, more consistent or more aligned with anyones
values. It does nothing. It is wasteful of your time and ours.
Wasting people's time is unpleasant, and you shouldn't be surprised that
people get angry about that. People in this list have a lot of patience
with your repetitions, and try to explain what has already been explained
again and again. This is what I'm doing right now, because you have already
been called "troll" before, meaning no insult. I don't think we keep on
arguing
with you in hope that you listen, but simply to avoid new people on the list
seeing your arguments without reply.
You don't seem absolutely unable to reason, although it looks to me like
you have some problem that I don't know and keeps you from acting normally,
or at least like most people I know would act. Anyway, once you do some
time wasting posting, are warned of the problem, and keep reposting the same
ideas, it is not so weird to think that either you are unable to understand
you're wasting everybody's time including yours, or you don't care.
If one assumes you're decently intelligent, then one must assume you don't
care about wasting everybody's time, and human nature tends to look for a
reason to everything, so people naturally connects it with your personal
interests, part of which happen to be in fighting trivial patents where
you can find them.
So don't feel insulted if somebody connects your obstination with your
bussiness and infer bad faith. That may be wrong, it may just be
your character, that can't stand the fact that many people on this list
won't agree with you however sure you are that you are right. I've seen
other people like that, they take as the most basic axiom that they are
right, and from there assume that everybody should agree, because there is
only one truth and they happen to know it. So anyone who does not agree
has obviously not understood, and therefore they try to explain everything
again. That's sometimes useful, but after a couple of iterations most
people understand that the other has actually understood, but simply does
not agree, and try new arguments, or stay in disagreement. You don't.
You keep on trying to explain the same again and again.
Well, I don't like that, and I'd beg you to stop doing it if it would be
of any use, but it won't, since it has been tried before.
Maybe a FAQ would be useful, trying to state clearly
your points and other's, but only if you would agree to stop repeating them
and just pointing people to the FAQ. Is there somebody willing to write
that FAQ?. Would you, Greg, promise to post just a reference to the FAQ
whenever you think some of your ideas there apply?. The rest of the people
could do the same, but that wouldn't be needed because the same section of
the FAQ would show your arguments and your opponents'. If you (and the rest
of the list) do not agree to this, I see no reason to write the FAQ, even
if someone is willing.
P.S. I've tried my best not to insult you, but I find it difficult to
describe your behaviour without some comptent. Please excuse my inaptitude for
diplomacy. I hope anyone tells me my faults likewise (for example, messages
too long) so that I can correct them if I agree, or at least know that
people don't like it.
