Subject: [Patents] Microsoft Executive Says Linux
Threatens Innovation
Hello,
well, now my rage to that guy (Jim Allchin) has fallen a bit, so I
may think more logically, and my conclusions will be even more
BITTER and more SPITEFUL.

Ah, what a shame ;-)) And who is sayin' that ??? VIP of the
company accused of monopolist practices ??
> The result will be the demise of both intellectual property rights
and the
> incentive to spend on research and development, he said
yesterday, after

Mind YOUR IP, NOT SOMEONE's else, Mr Allchin.
> Linux is developed in a so-called open-source environment in
which the
> software code generally isn't owned by any one company.
So what, Mr Allchin ??? It is not your business.
> That, as well as
> programs such as music-sharing software from Napster Inc.,
means the
> world's largest software maker has to do a better job of talking to
> policymakers, he said.
Ha ha ha !!!
Comparing Napster with Linux ??? No way.
While Napster lets anybody to share OTHERS' intellectual property
-- even 'commercial' one, LINUX is a CONSENSUAL PROJECT.
Somebody agrees to give away HIS (HER) OWN IP, and EY DO
AS EY PLEASE, OKAY ???
What the mess here ??? Microsoft wants to sell their "Windows
2000" for, say, 120 USD each pack. It's their business. By
contrast, Debian chooses to give away the copies of their product
FOR FREE. It is their business, too.
> ''Open source is an intellectual-property destroyer,'' Allchin said.
It is NOT -- no more than Microsoft is. It is the contemporary and
competetive project. Netscape leaders could say, that M$ is "IP
DESTROYER" and so what ???
> can't imagine something that could be worse than this for the
software
> business and the intellectual-property business.''
Blah, blah, blah ... So DO THE BETTER PRODUCTS, Bill'ssake!
> Microsoft distributes some of its programs without charge to
customers,
> although it generally doesn't release its programming code, and it
retains
> the ownership rights to that code.
It is Microsoft's business, again. If at some time they choosed to
change their minds and to uncover their code (full of bugs as I
predict ;-)) is it why you don't do it ??? ;-)) )
> Linux is the most widely known
> open-source product, though other programs including the
popular

> system for Web server computers also are developed the same
way.
You are saying so trivial things ... Why you do that ?? We all
know, WHAT is Open Source, Linus'sake !!! ;-)) Who cares ?
> Corel Inquiry

Ah-hah !!! Here we have the wolf at the doorstep ;-))
> Corel said last month it
> willl drop efforts to develop the Linux operating system,
who needs that crap called "Corel Linux" ??? I know that the
people who LOVE Linux (like me) prefer to choose Debian,
Slackware, or Redhat, or some other. We don't like commercial
Linux distribs -- we, users.
> though it will
> continue to make Linux applications.
Very well. I like Corel's apps, though I don't use them (I've read
much about them, I've seen some 'demo' versions, I've heard other
people's opinions and all of them stated: WONDERFUL !!)
> Corel said it hadn't consulted with
> Microsoft before making that decision.
It is the sweet secret of Corel. Anybody may choose as ey please
to. Corel makes Linux distrib ?? Very well. Corel stops doing it ??
Ah please yourselves, Corel folks!! ;-)) It is your choice anyway..
> Brian Behlendorf, founder of open-source company CollabNet
Inc., said most

retain the rights

Of course they do!!! Linux and whole Open Source model depends
on the 'contributory' creation. I create some part, somebody else
(in another country, continent and so on) the another, and WE ALL
create the ONE, BIG PROJECT -- It is called 'the Bazaar style' --
while anybody of us retains some 'rights' due to GNU General
Public/Library Licence. We only mutually agree to GIVE AWAY
those rights FOR FREE -- but we HAVE them still. It is, where
information (or rights) differs from the matter. You can't have and
give matter simultanously; you can do so about the info or rights.
> ''I think Microsoft is trying to paint the open-source community as

Microsoft simply looks into the mirror and follows the rule "judge
others as you see yourself" ;-)) ;->>>
> that all software have has to be free, or none of it can be,''
"All software must be Windows compatible, or cease to exist" -- it
would be a better motto for M$ policies.
> said Behlendorf, whose company helps businesses run their own
open-source
> projects.
>
> Allchin said he's concerned that the open-source business model
could

Ha ha ha!!!
Jokeful man... Maybe he would be better off in some TV humor talk-
show, than into the boring, brainwashing, constant position of
"sales manager" or so ??? ;-))
> ''I'm an American, I believe in the American Way,'' he said.
Really, Mr Allchin ???
Well, I'm maybe ignorant. I live in Poland, where I was born. And,
As Far As I Know, "American Way" depends on the FREEDOM
TO CHOOSE. One may choose making money, another one --
giving the products to the people for free. Laissez Faire ! means
"LEave us alone" or "Let us act!" -- and it is related to everybody;
for Linux, Micro$oft, IBM, and anybody else.
Anyway, aren't you stealing the name of "Amway" (it is the
shorting of "American Way" ??? ;-)))
> ''I worry if
> the government encourages open source, and I don't think we've
done enough
> education of policy makers to understand the threat.''
You are right here, and ONLY here, Mr Allchin. As the free-market
libertarian, I'm strictly AGAINST the government's intervention into
the market. That's the main reason I'm against sw patents, too
(they are the mercantilist, pro-monopolist crap). However, STOP
trying to sell your products to Uncle Sam (and other govts) and I
would invite you to some LIBERTARIAN society :-)) Down with
governments, and with welfare states!!! Long live the minimal,
minarchist state, which sole purpose is to protect Life, Liberty and
Property !!
Anyway, have you ever thought of buying some island on the
Carribean Sea (an example, there are many else) and creating the
Independent State there ("When in the course of human events it
becomes neccessary for some people to ..." as US Declaration of
Independence states) ??? Would you give me a passport ?? ;-)
I would love to move there, if you don't outlaw Linux there of course
;-)) I HATE living in a big, nation-state, socialist state, and so on!!
Whatmore, I think that this 'lobbying' efforts were NOT lobbying in
real. They were a kind of political happening -- to show M$'s
position AGAINST "Sherman act" and other "anti-monopoly" US
acts. To show all their stupidity, as well as the stupidity of the
claims against M$ (like those, that M$ must reveal the whole code
of Windows to everybody, what a crap!!). Very well. Let's abolish
them. But before that, let's abolish software patents, and DO NOT
DARE to attack your competitors -- regardless if they are the
businesspeople, or the community people, by the means different
from those available on the FREE MARKET to the HONEST people
(that means: NO pro-restriction lobbying, NO cheating, and so).
[cut]
> Microsoft only began significant lobbying efforts in the last few
years.

lawmakers about issues

It's nice to see it on them. Well, the truth is different: LET'S
ABOLISH THE VISA SYSTEM. Let EVERYBODY go free,
wherever ey chooses. To USA, to Europe, everywhere else.

Ah, and we've got you here !!! Well, we Linuxers are catching you,
still you are before us but NOT too much ... Not too much ... And
the player nr 2 catches the first corner ... Yeah !!! Now he (Linux)
carries the shirt of a Winner !!! Losedows ;-))(not Windows) are
behind! ;->>

And thus WE ARE CREATING THE NEW JOBS. Good admin is a
God here, Mr Allchin. Nobody but a good Admin ! And it pays, it
really pays -- I have some experience here, be sure ...
> ''We can build a better product than Linux,'' he said.
Don't boast, Mr Jim. It's so stupid, and unworthy. Just DO IT, and
we will see. Even the Bill's MOST LOVELY copy of Win'98
(Lose'98) has hanged at the biggest show, witnessed by the many.
Just MAKE some changes, and we will see. You need the better
programmers, better checking and so on.
> ''There is always
> something enamoring about thinking you can get something for >

WRONG. "There is always something STUPID in believing to the
ADVERTS. All of them LIE, more or less..." There are FOUR (not
three, as Mark Twain said) sorts of lies "Lies, damn lies, statistics,
and adverts" ;-))

really crappy, there is only a form for feedback, NO mail
addresses...
