Not long ago, "Dr Janice Williams" threatened this list with retaliating
to "infantile statements from phm et al" by unsubscribing, and thereby
provoked a long netiquette discussion.

He was then told several times, how this can be done, and here again he
himself quotes the instructions on how it is to be done:

But apparently even a Dr title doesn't guarantee that the owner of that
title is able to read instructions, let alone to think for a second before
whining "Mama, Mama" in front of hundreds of disinterested mailing list
readers.

Interestingly, this behavior has occurred with 10x this amplitude on the
EPO mailing list, as soon as some critical articles appeared.  We are
perhaps dealing here with a large group of "professionals" whose
"professionality" mainly consists in single-minded devotion to career and
money opportunities by parrotting some authoritative source of law, and
unable to think in communitarian terms, including even those of the
simplest mailing list community.

It is this hoard of barbarians, against which we are being forced to
defend the freedom to write software.  The only way is to keep them out.
Once you have software patents, there is no way you can mitigate their
nefarious effects, because any of the necessary measures would require far
too much intelligence and goodwill, both of which do not seem to be even
remotely available for this kind of purpose in the world of "law
professionals".
