This list is losing focus and interest

I wish everyone would stop replying to remarks clearly made in bad
faith by people who did not even bother studying the issues, and who
are just trying to discredit the work done here by endless and
repetitive arguments on irrelevant issues.
all the more when they are very careful to be anonymous.

Just add kodama@netcourrier.com to your kill file and forget him PLEASE

Whether swpat are useful or not will never be proved formally. The
facts are that all available studies converge to uselessness or
harmful effects on economy and innovation.  Which is at least an
indicator.

But swpat are a restriction on people's freedom, because publishing
software is a form of expression, independantly of any business
considerations.  And when it comes to restricting freedom :
1- it can only be done for a greater good for society
2- the burden of the proof of that greater good is on those who wish
     to impose that freedom restriction.

All intangible good are a form of expression, and obey different
economic laws (no marginal costs) than material goods.
