You may find interesting new developments especially on

Swpat Hearing at the German Parliament

15 years of EPO patents on computer-implementable rules
of organisation and calculation -- seminar 2001-07-05 Stuttgart

EC Consultation on the Patentability of computer implementable
rules of organisation and calculation -- overview and evaluation

Concerning the hearing, a very insightful paper from Daniel Probst,
economist at Mannheim University, has become available.

Concerning the Linuxtag Seminar, there are new participants, individuals
as well as supporting organisations, and printable pamphlets are ready.

Moreover our German public letter, calling for five law initiatives, with
informative appendices,

	http://swpat.ffii.org/xatra/patg2C/patg2Cde.pdf

has undergone a significant overhaul. Especially the appendix on the
concept of technical invention is now very compact and informative. It
cites Art 52 EPC and the salient passages from the BGH decisions
"Dispositionsprogramm" (1976) and "Walzstabteilung" (1980) as well as
Krasser's manual of patent law (1986).

We would like to have some of the latter documents translated to English.
Dispositionsprogramm would cost about 160 EUR/USD for the salient part
and 300 EUR/USD for the whole text. Walzstabteilung is similar.
For the Kolle and Krasser articles also about 300 each would be ok.

Greg offered earlier to pay for some of this work. I would accept the
offer from him as well as from others. You can send a cheque to the
FFII attn myself (DE 80636 Muenchen Blutenburgstr 17) and I will see
to it that the work is done according to your priorities.
