Well, the great Polish sci-fi writer, Stanislaw Lem (you can
buy&read most of his books in English, German, French, Spanish,
Dutch, and many other languages, too) used to write about such
problems many times.

The intelligent machines, the machine-government, the machine
feelings, the cyborgs (I recommend "Do you exist, Mr. Jones?" -- a
great story about a man sued by a company producing implants,
but could they effectively sue him, if all parts of his body are
implanted, so he's a 'machine' without a drop of human blood or
piece of human body? Could they treat him like a machine, on the
other hand?

Well, it's nice to consider such problems when writin' sci-fi or other
fiction. It is, however, less nice to have to face them when some
greedy lawyers want to take our freedom to create away.

    Yours in Liberty,
        Critto
