Owning the Future: Patent Pollution By Seth Shulman

...

What makes these startups really interesting is that they are
attracting support across a broad spectrum of intellectual-property
players from patent system boosters to open-source programmers. In
the polarized IP field, that is no small feat.

...

---------------------

If you want to post a message and explain that prior art search is only a
minor part of the problem and that legal insecurity concerning prior art
harms opensource developpers less than companies, you may want to refer to

        protection shield
        http://swpat.ffii.org/stidi/gacri/

and

the price for giving up the concept of technical invention
        http://swpat.ffii.org/stidi/korcu/

Unfortunately not much has been done for time-stamping so far.

Strange that writers like Shulman limit their perspective to those
problems that the patent movement tells people to focus on.  Why so
docile?  Where are the critical minds in the US?
