The conference

  http://www.wipo.org/pressroom/en/alert/2001/ma08.htm

was announced here before.  It contains a session on software patents, to
which not only John Mogg (long-term believer in beneficial effects of
patents in "all fields of technology", heading the European Commission's
industrial property office which is in charge of the planned software
patentability directive) and some other patent movement speakers but also,
as a kind of exotic element for enriching one of the sessions, Prof
Randall Davis, co-author of the Manifesto (demanding a software-specific
anti-imitation regime instead of both patents and copyright) is invited.

For details of the program and speakers see:

        http://ecommerce.wipo.int/meetings/2001/conference/

I wonder if this could be a good place and time for organising a side
session on the Technical Invention like in Stuttgart.
