Hello,
it's Critto here.
Some time ago, there was  a discussion about Hague Convention;
or, rather not a discussion on it, but on how to prevent its
ratification.

As I think, for now, there's a bunch of few dozens stupid delegates,
who are isolated from the reality. I don't think that it's a real threat
to make totalitarian Chinese court verdicts (sentences)
automatically executable in eg. Poland (who's a member state,
too), France, Spain or Britain.

The eqaully evil, or even worse OECD's "harmful tax competition"
assault on 'tax havens' has failed, after the interested parties' (the
so-called 'tax havens') brave opposition met with US help,
expressed in US resistance towards the devilish plans of OECD.
And, as with Hague Convention, the latter's been unknown, too, till
it was published by some newspapers, some pro-market
organisations as Adam Smith Center
(http://www.adamsmith.org.uk)  and some offshore centers, as
Offshore & Privacy (http://offshoreprofit.com).

What me should do, is to act similiarly. I know, that HC will die. It
MUST die, if freedom and democracy has to survive, not only in the
Internet, but also in "meatspace".
+
Furthermore, not all of the Hague Convention on private law is
wrong. There are some useful regulations' proposals, like the right
to choose the court jurisdiction in B2B, C2C, etc. business
relations, by the agreement of both parties.

Only the small portion of it is pro-censorship and tyrannical. It's
exactly as with American act, Communications Decency Act
(CDA), which threatened freedom of Internet in 1996, and it's been
finally abolished. It's been a part of a good act, Telecomunications
Reform Act, which liberated the whole telecomm. market, as ISPs,
telephone providers, and so on, giving them back to the market,
and withdrawing the state tyranny there.

And so, again, a bunch of clever politicians, try to 'smuggle' some
anti-freedom legislation as a part of a bigger, and certainly not evil
legislation. And THAT's the thing we must expose, ridicule, and kill.

Yours in Liberty,
     Krzysztof (Christopher) "Critto" Sobolewski
