The Register published an article on the meeting of the
W3C working group on patent policy
http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/6/22561.html

Which links to the W3C summary of the metting.
http://www.w3.org/2001/10/ppwg-cupertino-ftf-summary.html

Apparently the W3C is listening, but has not reached
conclusions yet. RAND does not seem so acceptable as
before but it hasn't been discarded yet.

Tim Berners-Lee sounds pro-RF.

The final decision seems delegated up to a nearby
Advisory Comitee metting of the W3C

The register somewhere else attributes the main support
for RAND in W3C to IBM.
