The Spanish Senate has approved this evening, by unanimity (including
the party in the Government), a recommendation to the Government to ask
at the European level for a delay in the decissions about the propoosal
of Directive on software patents. This delay should provide time for
all the involved parties to be informed in detail about the implications
of the Directive, so that they can give informed input to the Government
on the implications of the Directive for them.

During the discussion, all the political groups have recognized the
great potential impact of the Directive (in case it is finally approved)
on the european software industry, and the potential problems it could
cause to several important involved actors.

There is a press release (in Spanish) with much more detail:

Saludos,

        Jesus.
