Quite a good article.

Unfortunately they still take the CEC's claims of not wanting to patent
"computer programs as such" and "business methods" at face value, the only
warning to the reader being a few quotations from me.

At least they put up quite an effort to explain the legal situation and,
although they wrongly assert that "the law is unclear", they at least
allow the reader to understand that there may be a gap between law and
caselaw.

The naming "Eurolinux Alliance" is showing its weakness again.  Even this
article insists that we are an alliance of opensource users and that the
90% of consultation comments that went through our website are comments
from our constituents.

The article would also have been better if they had named a few
EPO/UKPO-granted patents, such as e.g. the JPEG patent.  These are in no
way different from what the USPTO grants.  Thus the reader is exposed to a
lot of patent office junktalk without enough ressources to check for its
truth.
