Talking about racism and xenophobia ?

This simple sentence is enough to give me shivers.

I don't see any point in it, exception made of sneaky racist attack.

Let us examine it.

"Readers might be interested in my experience at a hearing held by the
PTO"

Here we try to grab attention, we say we have something to offer someone
"might be interested" in.
Let's see what it's all about, I'm anxious to know.

"The row of chairs in front of me were full of Japanese"

So what ? It was a day when a dispute implied japanese interests, ok. If
the sentence stopped here, it could be just factual, an introduction to
the rest of your story. But it doesn't. It says :

"and their hired American spokespersons."

And here we have a problem.
Because you introduce an opposition.
Because the only adjective you give to qualify what you'll soon enable
yourself to call "such persons" is a racist one.
Because you are no longer factual, as I suspect you didn't checked IDs
for every person in the room. You base a judgement of value on facial
traits. You made a purely racist statement.

Even more racism transpires in the use of this "and" conjuction. You
could have said "The row of chairs in front of me were full of Japanese,
they hired American spokespersons". Your sentence would still be
pointless, expect for a literary description of the event, but you are
not describing the place, the furnishing, other persons in the room.
Then you must be trying to get a point, which one ?
Oh Yeh, you reader must understand that "being japanese" is the point.
Its certainly enough to qualify as "anti-american", for they must be the
ennemy. In your mind, you can't even imagine that japanese or european
people might be friendly to americans, might dispute on your patent
system for our mutual good.
And now, we better understand the "and" in the sentence, for it qualify
the traitors, "their hired American spokespersons".
Every spokeperson in court is hired, its simply the way it works. But in
that case, you need to add "hired", to try to justify your racism a
little more. These spokepersons are venal mercenaries, Judas.

Are we though, is that what we were supposed to be interested in ?

Let's see what follows :

"In fact at least a third of the people at the hearing were such
persons."
                                                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~
It seems clear. I'm know sure of your intentions and it don't look
pretty to me.
For your personal information, you should avoid to publish such
statements in France, for you could face charges here also for this
perversion. The only "someone that might be interested" in your delirium
are other paranoid racists you may try to reach for reasons I prefer not
to know.
