Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce the following event:

Title:  Defending Value and Maximising Value of Innovative Pharmaceuticals
over their entire            Life Cycles
Date:   20 February 2003
Venue:  Radisson SAS Portman Hotel, London

What is the conference about?

Innovative drugs are under attack as never before.  It is harder to register
patents, it is difficult to enforce them and it is becoming increasingly
difficult to defend them against generic challenge.  But all this, AND the
effective management of patent expiry, must be achieved if full value is to
be extracted from the hazardous business of drug discovery.

This briefing presents the latest thinking on how all these objectives can be
achieved.  It covers:
·       Optimising the patent grant and constructing interlocking patent
protection strategies
·       Warding off challenges
·       Ensuring effective enforcement
·       Maximising extension of exclusivity
·       Managing the transition to post patent marketing

At the heart of many of the issues are the approaches being taken and likely
to be taken by the courts in the major jurisdictions - the USA, Europe and
Japan and the tactics of generic competitors, patent registration authorities
and major government and health fund purchasers.

This is an important briefing at a critical time for the industry designed to
brief all pharmaceutical industry personnel involved in protecting, extending
and increasing product life cycle profitability including: intellectual
property professionals, pharmaceutical patent managers; in-house counsel and
legal advisors; business development managers; strategic marketing managers;
licensing executives; sales and marketing managers and product managers.
