Sorry about the "double" posting, I've just realized that this list
speaks more in english...
I've put on my personal web site a presentation about software patents.
The adopted point of view consists in seeing how the various (usual)
justifications of software patents for a small software publisher are
not good justifications indeed. Then non-negligible "social impacts" of
software patents are presented. And finally the conclusion compares
(poor) pros and (lots of) cons of software patents.
The plan of the presentation is the following :
- 1st justification: defensive (software patents helps SMEs to
protect their inventions from imitation)
- 2nd justification: offensive (software patents give SMEs the
incentive to incure the cost of innovation)
- 3rd justiffication; advertise (software patent enhance
evalutation of intangible assets for SMEs' investors)
- Social impacts
-Conclusion
I've made this presentation as an answer to a presentation I had in my
company done by a patent attorney. I wanted people in my company to be
awre of software patents aspects that are not covered by patent lawyers.
At this time I'm not sure I will be authorized to make this
"counter-presentation", but I feel it can be interesting for somebody.
So feel free to use and copy it
