I'm not really sure (but look, Hartmut has explained it later, and I'm
grateful to him for this). Well, but see: the 'design patents' directive
has _explicitly_ excluded software from 'design patenting'. Why
are the people, who are against design patents, in favor of the
'common' (or 'general', in contrast to 'design') patents on software??
Haven't the former have been heavily lobbied for, too ?? is it only
'big money's' LOBBYING what counts? What about the interests of
the society, of the citizens, of the Europeans? Of the very
compatriots which have elected those bastards (well, I'm not
among the EU voters -- yet :)) but most of all y'all are) ?? What if
one asks a MEP, and the MEP doesn't answer, or answers in a
deceptive and meaningless way; what are the procedures of
complaint for such an arrogant and nasty behavior?? What are the
penalties for MEPs for doing so ??

Well, it can be seen. Hartmut's message has been accepted by at
least 140 thousand of people, who have signed the petition; I feel
it's a pity that it wasn't about 1,4 million, but still it's a good
number, isn't it?? And, about 10 times more individuals could have
seen it (it's common on the internet that ca. 10% of the readers
give some feedback; rarely it's more). And 'spamming' is not wrong
when you convey the _message_ interesting and important for the
society, not the 'business proposal' (it even isn't prohibited AFAIK,
if it's not 'commercial' (that means, for money and business); if it
is, then it violates the UDHR - Universal Declaration of Human
Rights, and probably also the European Convention of Human
Rights, too).

OK, but when can I find a pattern there? Now, there is only a link to
main FFII page (this one about patents, swpat.ffii.org). And as for
petition, I've signed it long time ago (and it has been passed to the
EP already, so it's 'a day after the fair' now).

PS. I hate those 'behavior taboos' in the EU; they are so bysantine
... I think that someone should 'rock 'em' -- it's a perfect weapon
against those numb bureaucrats which are ready to impose a
tyranny on us (because of their dumbness)
