I don't think Hartmut "bag of gold coins in front of their noses"
is fortunate. MEPs are not that corrupt. It's simply they don't
have time to read/analyse/think about all the issues they must vote.
I'd say it is much more cheaper to buy laws by simply
spending on lots of experienced, professional, well equipped and
structured people to spend time on contacting MEPs.
All work a lobbyst does is less work for a MEP if he/she chooses
that option. Besides, that option will be easier to understand
and defend with the exaplanations of the lobbyiest, so the MEP
will not think it's wrong.

Having half a dozen people talking to 50 MEPs in their spare time
is a recipe for having to present quick answers that will not be
as convincing as the other side's, no matter how true, honest and
precise they are.

I don't think you can assume unbounded rational behaviour for MEPs.
I wouldn't have it if I was a MEP. Their time is bounded, and they
resort to trust instead of logics. You can add lazyness, prejudice,
background bias, etc. But they'll be minor factors.

So what we basically should do is find lots of people and a way
to coordinate them, make them effective. I don't know any such
way, but if we ever get to that, we'll have "free politics", just
as now we have "free software".

The usual solution is putting 1 million people in the street, which
I don't see feasible, who knows. But anyway, we badly need better press
realations. (note: I'm told journalist are in similar bounded resources
for analysis, so it isn't easy either).

But people say JURI is not representative of the whole EP. We can still
win in plenary. If we try.
