Hello, e-patent people,

I just emmitted an idea last week to the associations I'm involved in
(Aful & April) of e-mailing a pre-filled petition letter, asking to return it
filled, by snail mail, handly signed to the association I'm in charge
of, Soissons Informatique Libre, where I could find a couple of people to
handle those returned mails...

Next, I have very good (indirect) contacts with French national press
people, and we could go with them to Brussels to officially and press
converedly give those petitions (counted and sorted by companies/individuals,
etc., the good'ld way).

I even made à draft of what to send (in french) available at :

The text is outdated (is is the original one from the Erolinux Petition).

Just need to fill the form, sign, write-up the return address on an
enveloppe (could be even optimized), put the letter in an enveloppe, stamp 
it (same price from anywhere in Europe I think : around half an euro) and
lastly put it in a mail box. That's it. Time needed : < 5mn/person.

I asked around me but I found people not really reactive about it, saying
that petitions are useless, etc.

But I still think, if we could have *hand signed* petitions from the
whole Europe and good press coverage, then it could be worth the effort.

The vonlontary work to do would be slight :

 - (re-)define the petition text (you, people on the list, are much better
   than me at it !)
 - translate it in European official languages (I could handle French
   translation)
 - to relay documents URL through e-mail (kinda oneshot and useful spam...)

The other side would be handled by us in Soissons and the final rush in
Brussels should be anticipated so representative people could be present when
giving the petition to the European parliament with press people around.

Could you give me back opinions ? 

Is this just a silly utopia ?
