Unfortunately I am limited on time these days but this discussion is
really interesting.

> When I say: the spirit of the law, I mean what original writers of the
> law wanted, not what I want the law to be. I find very uncomfortable
> to think the law can be twisted based on what people thinks ... I
> would prefer the law to be changed if people change their minds ...
> but then getting back on the earth I fully understand and agree on
> what you say, world is not perfect at all and when humans are involved
> al the strange can happen :-)

Why the original spirit of the law should be preferred to the modern
spirit of the law?!? I think it's very important that law can evolve and
changes in interpretation are simply a part of this evolution.

The thing is that changes in interpretation occurs because of public
pressure. But when the pressure only comes from one side of the
public... The law can't be fair anymore!

ANNOUNCEMENT! ANNOUNCEMENT! ANNOUNCEMENT!

If anybody here is french, living in Paris and interested in this
problems of interpretation of the law... what's the law is and what it's
not... what is the real importance of the text of the law compared to
the jurisprudence... etc.

There is a great conference of DUNCAN KENNEDY about RONALD DWORKING at
La Sorbonne, Saturday from 10 to 12, escalier K, 2e étage, pièce G 615.
Don't hesitate one second to go! I will be there too. This guy can
explain everything much better than I ever will... and we can have a
drink after :-)
