Dear Doggie Friend

Welcome to yet another Year ~ 2004 hopefully will prove to be as successful for us and you as was last year.

Our Newsletter isn't getting through ...

Since when did we, a doggie loving web site turn into tech support? "We continue to have major problems with ISPs blocking our subscribers from receiving our newsletters, either because of their spam-blocking software, or restrictions they have on advertisements, 'inappropriate' content, HTML, etc. This may be the case. During this time, your ISP may have instituted mail-blocking, and it's possible that irishdogs newsletters are being blocked. Check any spam-blocking settings you may have on your account, and if there's nothing there, check with your ISP to see if perhaps they are filtering our newsletters out. (If this sounds like a canned response, it is, because we have so many people with similar issues!) Let me know what you find out from your ISP. If they have us blacklisted and need more information to get us on their 'whitelist,' I can provide it - you can refer them to me." And this happens to be the person currently handling our subscription management tasks (Peter). It's no longer cost effective to rely on e-mail as a viable means of one-to-many communication.

Last Year was Virus Year ~ What's for this year?

What happened las year? Did I miss the memo proclaiming that August was "Worm Month"? It was Blaster and then we've got the Nachi/Wechia virus (the anti-Blaster) and the return of Sobig, both causing headaches for network administrators and home users. Sobig is a pain because it's not only infecting machines at a high rate, it's also generating a lot of rejected e-mail messages from my virus scanner. I deleted over two thousand over ONE weekend from virus scanners thinking I was sending infected messages, when really it's just my address being spoofed. What a pain! Unfortunately, of course, all this wasted activity on my server means that the web site speed has suffered as a result

As part of our ongoing Newsletter and introducing new elements to our service I would like to take the opportunity of presenting our Guide to Training and other Tips and Tricks which we will include in our forthcoming emails to you.  Don't worry! We won't send them out too often!

Are you an expert in your field?

Do you think that you could write or contribute to our web site?  We are always on the lookout for contributors who are 'experts' in their particular breed.  You can have the opportunity of writing short articles on any 'doggie' subject and if it meets our strict standards we will publish your piece on the irishdogsie site for the rest of the world to see.

Also, you might a great idea for expanding or improving this web site which has been viewed by over 116,000 different visitors worldwide from over 130 countries.  If you can help us to stay at the No.1 Top Dog site position we would always welcome your input and, who knows, might even reward the best ideas.

We don't want to just sit on our tail.  We want to continuously expand this site to meet your expectations.  Help us to make this the best 'doggie' site.  So, if there is that terrier puppy in you - bite into this opportunity.

Please email me at editor@irishdogs.ie
