Dear Seth,

I have to say that when I first heared about moves to patent software I
thought it was some kind of joke. It does seem to me that these people have
a contempt for the free dynamic nature of the net- and the fact it lets
SME's compete on such a level playing field. Can you imagine if any
government turned round and said to the people,

"We are going to take an industry that has an almost perfectly competitive
model and turn it into a privatised monopoly of ideas that will be carved up
by a handful of major players!"

I would love to see their opinion polls- it seems that because we work with
computers all is fair in love, war and literary works..
