This is also the official position of the Swedish Ministry of Justice
20040316:
.
datorrelaterade uppfinningar utvidgas.
patentmyndigheterna."

Translated:

"First of all I want to make clear that the directive does not mean that
patents can be applied for in a new area or that the patentability of
computer implemented inventions is expanded. Patents on computer
implemented inventions have been available in Europe for 30 years and
until now about 30 000 such patents have been granted by the european
patent authorities."

(NB "datorrelaterade uppfinningar" litterally means "computer-related
inventions". A literal translation of "computer implemented inventions"
is "datorimplementerade uppfinningar", but that can hardly mean anything
else than computer programs, even for the layman)
