Dear Francois et Rui,
I am in total agreement. But even if they could proove that patents were a
good thing, it doesn't solve the problem of the author's exclusive rights.
Whichever way they dress it up an author's rights would be prejudiced if an
inventor was allowed to claim he owned the author's logical ideas. This is
clearly a breach..
The other wonderful little bit of lunacy I have picked up on is that certain
MEP's are arguing that a computer process and a computer program are
different animals. (therefore the literary definition applies only to the
expression in written form only and not process, every single treaty shows
this is nonsense.) The dictionary also shows also otherwise!
Is that the sound of cards collapsing?
BTW I have provided a short 1 page summary of the literary works obligations
that is hopefully short enough to keep people's interest for long enough. It
is available here. Hope it is useful.(it is restatement so there is nothing
new here but for people with a passing interest it could be handy).

Kindest Regards,
Christian
