I can't find a reference to the concerned patent anywhere, so there is no 
way to produce anything that I would accept as serious news reporting 
about this issue at

How can one report about assertion of an unknown patent ?

Even the MS FAQ doesn't seem to give a patent number.  Questions for the 
legal basis of MS claims apparently aren't frequently asked.  What shame.
