All:

If you ever want to show just one short article to a politician or civil
servant or journalist or anyone else to explain why software patents are
bad, then *this* is the one:
http://www.zdnet.com.au/news/business/0,39023166,39165409,00.htm

I've also extracted the quotes, and added a comment on the stature of Baker
& McKenzie, in my forum:
http://nosoftwarepatents.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=108

Many of those who we talk to have a legal background, and they know that
Baker & McKenzie (www.bakernet.com) is a global player law firm for global
player clients.  That gives incredible weight to those quotes.

We won't win this war on any other basis than having politicians and others
understand the big picture, i.e. what harm and what problems are effectively
caused by swpats.  There are some nice quotes from Deutsche Bank Research
and PriceWaterhouseCoopers but those only make for a few sentences that
don't cover enough ground.  Essentially, the above article PLUS the Deutsche
Bank and PwC quotes are the best way to make our claims in reference to
"incredibly credible" sources that no one suspects of being anti-industrial.
